Love Once Written
By T. Delaplain
Every morning, Ellie settles into her weathered rocking chair, pen poised, notebook open. For decades, she’s written sweeping romances from this porch – tales of first kisses, stolen glances, and love that defied time. Yet none of her imagined beaus ever matched the man who once courted and proposed to her right here, under the lilacs, fifty summers ago. He had brought her tea as needed but never stopped challenging her. Now, his chair sits empty. Still, on warm afternoons when words flow easily, it rocks ever so slightly—keeping rhythm with her pen, as if love, once written, never truly leaves the page, or the porch.

I can hope for that contentment if or when I lose the love of my life. Thanks for commenting.

That’s beautiful, Tracey. She may not have her lover, but she has always had a muse next to her. I loved this.

Thank you for the photo David. I often wonder where my muses come from. My father frequently shows up at FF from the great beyond. This story’s muse was probably the actual living love of my life.

We’re all a collection of our experiences, so inspiration can come from many areas. Great to have a muse living with you. 🙂

Thank you, I think you may be right. The Fictioneers seemed to like it. Sometimes I write something that I think is brilliant but it doesn’t resonate with anyone else. This story probably has a universal theme of love across time that most people can relate to or aspire to.

Dear Tracey,
I learned this morning of a friend who passed away. The post was from her husband. They were definitely the loves of each other’s lives, not to mentioin both authors. Your beautiful story goes deep for me.
Shalom,
Rochelle

I’m sorry for your loss. Those of us who have loved are blessed indeed. I would be lost without the man who sits beside me. Watching you and yours over the years, I know you understand.
